Steve Smith is an Australian Cricketer who had captained the Australian national Cricket team from 2015 to 2018 as he was banned from Cricket for ball tampering. He is the top ranked test batsman in the world according to the ICC Player ranking. He made his ODI debut on 19 February 2010 vs West Indies; test debut on 13 July 2010 vs Pakistan and T20 debut on 5 February 2010 vs Pakistan. He is the top order batsman as well as a part time leg spin bowler. He started his career as a bowler but later he improved his batting. He is one of the batsman in fab four including Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Joe Root. He is also known by many names smudge, Smithy, 'best since bradmon' due to his test batting average, Captain Grummy after he achieved twice 'Allan Border Medal' and many more names. He is playing for Sydney Sixers in BBL and for Rajasthan Royals in IPL.

In IPL, he has served Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010 IPL . In 2011 IPL, he served Kuchi Tuskers Kerala but due to anchor operation he could not play in that season. KTK was removed from the IPL in the next season and he was brought in the IPL auction the next year and he was bought by Pune Warriors India and also given the captaincy in few matches, then he was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and was given the captaincy later in 2015 season. During 2016 IPL auction, he was bought by rRsing Pune Supergiants, then the next year MS Dhoni appointed Smith as captain in IPL 2018. He was named as the capital of Rajasthan Royals, due to Australia ball tampering side he was removed from IPL and Ajinkya Rahane became the captain of Rajasthan Royals, then in November 2018, he was retained again by Rajasthan Royals for 2019 IPL after losing some matches under Rahane's captaincy, he was appointed as the captain of the same.

He has also achieved many award such as Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy in 2015; ICC test player of the year in 2015 and 2017; ICC ODI team of the year in 2018; Australian test player of the year in 2015 and 2018; Allan Border medal in 2015 and 2018 and many such awards.

• He made his international debut as a bowler. He was trained by world's best leg spinner Shane Warne. He was the leading wicket taker for New South Wales in KFC T20 2007-08. He was seen as next best since bowler and was compared with Shane Warne.
