Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan cricketer and the current capital of Sri Lankan national team in T20 International. He was also the captain of Sri Lankan national team in 2014 T20 World Cup 2016 when Sri Lanka won the T20I World Cup. He is known for his fast bowling and is different action. He had announced his retirement from test cricket on 22nd April 2011. He plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL. He has been named as the official event ambassador for World Twenty20 Championship by ICC. He took his ODI retirement after playing with Bangladesh on 26 January 2019. In February 2018, he was appointed as a bowling mentor for MI team as a bowling coach for the side in 2018 IPL season. MI franchise reveals that he would play a supportive role as a mentor ahead of 2018 IPL season. Due to the decision made by MI team he was in auction for 2018 IPL and due to his poor Bowling in 2017 IPL season but he was again retained by the MI team for 2019 IPL season.He was also appointed as the bowling coach of team Rajasthan Royals in the year 2022.
