Virat Kohli is an Indian Cricketer and the captain of Indian Cricket team since 2014. He took test captaincy in 2014 and of limited overs Cricket in 2017. He has learnt tricks before taking over it from the one of the best captain M.S.Dhoni who had won all the ICC trophies. Virat Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsman in the world. He is a right handed top order aggressive batsman. He made his test debut on 20 June 2011 v.s. W.I. ; ODI debut on 18 August 2008 v.s. Sri Lanka and T20 debut on 12 June 2010 v.s. Zimbabwe. He played his last test on 29 February 2020 v.s. N.Z. ; played his last ODI on 11 February 2020 v.s. N.Z. and played his last T20 on 31 January 2020 v.s. N.Z. He is also known by different names such as King Kohli, chiku, Run Machine and many more. He is the top ranked ODI batsman in the world and also he is currently the 2nd in test ranking; among Indian batsmen, he has the best test, ODI and T20 ranking.

During IPL, he has served RCB from the first season and has been the captain since 2013 of the same. He was made Vice-Captain in 2011 when Vittori was the captain. He had scored 5 centuries till now in RCB. He took RCB to the finals three times (2009, 2011 and 2016) but never succeeded in winning it.

He has won many awards such as Arjuna Award in 2013; Padma Shri in 2017; Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2018; Sir ICC Garfield Sober trophy in 2014 and 2018; ICC ODI player of the year in 2012, 2017 and 2018; CNN News 18 India of the year in 2017 and many more. Under his captaincy, India had won 2008 Under-19 World Cup.

Virat Kohli has got the nickname 'Chiku' from the Indian Wicket keeper "M.S.Dhoni" and from the famous comic book 'Champak' which had a character named 'Chiku'. When he was playing Ranji trophy, he had big cheeks, he had also cut his hair very short and had big ears and as he looked like the Chiku in 'Champak', he was named Chiku by M.S.Dhoni.

He loves to play cover drive and flick shot. He loves chasing. Once he said ,"I love the whole situation that comes with chasing, I like the challenge of testing myself, figuring out how to rotate strike , when to hit a boundary." He is the second most successful centurion in ODI after Sachin Tendulkar with 43 centuries. He has 27 test, 43 ODI and no T20 centuries.

Some unknown facts about him:-He is the only cricketer to score 500 runs in a bilateral ODI series; He is the only Asian captain to win test in England, S.A. and Australia; He had scored the fastest century for India in just 52 balls against Australia; He became first ever cricketer to score century on World Cup debut in 2011; He had also took wickets twice in his career; He is the only player in IPL to never be auctioned; He is fastest batsman ever to reach 10000 runs and also he with Prithwi Shaw are the only player in IPL to be out on 99.

 

Overall he is a very great cricketer and even a greater human being. At last, he stays positive all the time and his saying perfectly suits him, “When you are fit, you feel as if you can do an" as well as "If you stay positive in a negative situation you win".
