M.S. DHONI- THE ULTIMATE LEGEND
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is an Indian cricketer who captained the Indian cricket team for 10 years from (2007 to 2016) in Limited overs cricket and for 7 years (from 2008 to 2014). He made his ODI debut in cricket on 23rd December 2004 vs Bangladesh; T20 debut on 1 December 2006 vs South Africa and Test debut on 2nd December 2005 vs Sri Lanka. He announced his test retirement on 30 December 2014. He is also known as Mahi or Captain Cool or Thala and by many more names. He is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all the ICC Trophies. In 2012, Sports pro-rated him as the 16th most marketable athlete in the world. In 2011, under his captain ship, India won the 2nd ICC Cricket World Cup. He is a middle order wicket keeper batsman who plays a major role as a finisher. Dhoni became a father on 6 February 2015 and named his daughter Ziva. At the time of her birth, Dhoni was in Australia as a captain and a player of Indian National Cricket Team for 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. But he decided not to travel back to India, and said that,"I am on national duty, other things can wait ." Such a dedicated man he is!
During IPL, he has served CSK from the first season till now (2008-2021; 2023- present) and captain the same and won 5 IPL
titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023) and went to final 5 times out of 10 and qualified all
times. He had also served Rising Pune Super-giants (RPS) in (IPL).
He has won many awards such as "2018 Padma Bhushan" ; "2019 Padma Shri" and "2007-08 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award". He also won ‘ICC ODI player of the year’; ‘Castrol Indian cricketer of the year’ and many more awards. He is also regarded by some as one of the best wicket- keepers and captains in modern- limited over international cricket. Under his captaincy, India won 2007 ICC World T20; 2010 and 2016 Asia Cup; 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He had also sometimes bowled many balls in international cricket for India, he also took wicket in ODI.
He had also served The Indian Army. The Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel to Dhoni on 1 November 2011. He is the second Indian cricketer after Kapil Dev to receive this honour. Overall he is a very great cricketer and even a greater human being. At last, he stays positive all the time and his saying perfectly suits him, “I have three dogs at home, even after losing a series or winning a series, they treat me the same way.”
