Kapil Dev, is an Indian cricketer who captained the Indian Cricket team for 13 years (from 1982-1994). He is a fast bowler and a hard hitting middle order batsman. His saying always keeps him happy, "When you have to work ,work with a smile.". He is regarded as one of the greatest captain in the history of cricket. He was named by Wisden as the Indian cricketer of the century in 2002. 

He played cricket for 17 years (from 1978-1994). He made his One Day Internationals (ODI) debut on 1 October 1978 vs Pakistan and played his last ODI on 16 October 1991 vs West Indies; made his test debut on 15 October 1978 vs Pakistan and played his last test on 19 March 1994 vs New Zealand. He has never played T20 matches.

He is also known as Haryana Hurricane and Kapil Paji. He captained the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 cricket world cup. Due to his highly skilled batting India won the first world cup in the history of cricket. He was India's national cricket coach from October 1999 to August 2000. He retired in 1994, holding record for greatest number of wicket taker in test.

He is the only player in the history of cricket to take more than 400 wickets and score more than 5000 runs in test. On 11 what 2010, he was included in the ICC cricket Hall of fame.

 He has achieve many awards such as:
• 1979-80 Arjuna Award
• 1982 Padma shri
• 1983- Wisden Indian cricketer of the year
• 1991- Padma Bhushan
• 2002- Wisden Indian cricketer of the year and many more.

In 2008, Kapil Dev entered the Indian territorial Army. He was awarded the rank of liutenant colonel by the army. He was commissioned as a Liutenant Colonel. He joined as an Honorary Officer.

He was appointed as first chancellor of sports University of Haryana in 2019. Haryana is represented by him in domestic cricket and his saying always keeps him positive,"Every person get negative things, they learn from those negative things and you become a positive person". He is a great and successful human being.
